Throughout my career as a designer I've worked on a wide range of projects with particular emphasis on web design, 3D visualisation and identity work.

Web Design

• emilywhitesmith.com Client Project (Freelance) A personal portfolio site showcasing textile design; the site received the Site of the Day award from 'thecssawards.com'.
• The Gastronomic Company Client Project (Freelance) A detailed design comp for a catering company; the visual refresh is based around existing content.
• gracechurchloughborough.org Client Project (Freelance) I produced a range of material for GCL, including this website, a HTML email template, logo, banners and posters.
• vignettedesign.com Personal Project Vignette Design was my 'online identity' when actively freelancing; it has been replaced by JamesWhitesmith.com.
• glenelgdesign.com In-House Project (Glenelg) I redesigned the Glenelg website in line with company promotional materials, replacing the existing Flash site.
• bethelotleyilkley.com Client Project (Freelance) An open brief to modernise the existing website, updating the UI and site aesthetic without sacrificing content.

3D Visualisation

• Nintendo 3DS Personal Project 3D model built in SDRC Ideas, then imported into Cinema 4D for visualisation. Model based on pre-production images.
• GHD Midnight Styler Client Project (Glenelg) Glenelg was tasked with designing the GHD Midnight styler; I produced this visual of the final product.
• GHD Iron Stand Client Project (Glenelg) One of my first projects at Glenelg was to design a stand for the GHD MK4 styler range, for use in hair salons.
• Digital Boutique Personal Project Fictional retail interior produced as a means of learning modelling techniques in Cinema 4D.
• MacBook Pro Personal Project 3D model built and rendered in Cinema 4D, based on elevational views of the 17 inch MacBook Pro.
• Symphony Personal Project 'Symphony' is a digital media centre I designed at university. The visual was produced using V-Ray for 3DS Max.

Identity Design

• James Whitesmith Personal Project A personal logo mark designed for use in both digital and print mediums, at multiple scales in multiple colours.
• Stonebow School Client Project (Freelance) Logo concept combining references to the historic 3 arch Stonebow Bridge and unity between school pupils.
• Vignette Design Personal Project The Vignette Design logo went through a number of iterations during the lifespan of the website.
